These are some of my 2 year old little girl's favorite toys~
Play food, bowls, pans, spoons
Play Hut tents (Not expensive, easy to fold up, and it can be a bus, castle, train~ toddlers LOVE tents and hiding!)
Elmer's glue "paints"~ they paint on the magic paper only, and are like big pens with brush ends
Wooden puzzle, she especcially likes the magnetic ones where you have to "fish" for the pieces, $4.99 at Target
Musical instruments
Little People, any kind
The Leap Frog Fridge Phonics set, really fun and educational too!
Little plastic animals, she plays with these all the time
Leap Frog Learning pad, you can buy all sorts of stories for it, and it has setting for all ages 6 months-3
Cardboard blocks, she builds huge towers with my husband and loves to knock them over. I found them for $24 at Toys R Us this Christmas

Hope this helps! I could really go on and on, but these are these are definitely favorites. :-)
References :
One share of stock. Long after the toys are forgotten, the stock will grow steadily and remind her throughout life of your interest and concern for her well-being. It teaches a memorable message on putting things away for the future, while adding value over time. There are stocks priced in a range that are affordable to everyone. Enjoy!
References :
2 year olds are super easy to shop for! They just love to open presents, you could wrap an empty box and they would still be excited just with the process of opening it! ( I'm not recommending you actually do that.) They love dolls, or little toy animals. They are generally very into make believe play, so a tea set, or pretend pets, or dress ups are fun. I'm sure she'll be excited for anything new. Don't even feel bad if you want to shop at a 2nd hand store. She won't know the difference, and you can get some great stuff for a fraction of the cost. Enjoy that now, before she gets old enough to realize it's used! At this age, it's all good, because it's new to her!
References :
For my daughter we got large mega blocks for her 2ND birthday, we also invested in an art easel. (The one that is chalk board on once side and dry erase on the other. It hold paper and the crayons in a tray...found it at IKEA) She loved both of these things, The biggest hit was the easel, the rolls of paper that you get to go with it cost only 5 dollars and they last forever and I do not have crayon marks on my walls because she can color there any time she wants. Good luck!
References :
Aww, man! The person above beat me to it. The Crayola wonder paper and coloring books are fabulous. My daughter is 3 and I still prefer for her to color on those so I don't have to worry about market getting on her, the furniture, etc.
References :
Dolls. Or there are some really neat Crayola things out there. Like the No Mess paints and color wonder things. Anything that will entertain her for a while. Even a white board is good. I used to love to draw and play school with mine.

Then again, I could spend hours playing with Barbie dolls when I was little.
